Mathematics of Planet Earth I
This course concerns mathematical techniques applicable in modelling the Earth’s climate. We will discuss the major Earth’s energy balance models, oceans and atmosphere and climate. These models will be analysed using techniques from differential equations and dynamical systems (bifurcation theory), statistics (regression analysis) and data science, such as Principal Component Analysis (PCA).
Prerequisites permission of instructor.
